NIS2 Article 28: i2Coalition Implementation Guide for EU Member States

Members of the i2Coalition DNS Issues Working Group have drafted a document, ‭NIS2 Article 28:‬ Implementation Guide for‬‭ European Union Member States‬, which we are publishing today.

The deadline for each EU Member State to transpose the NIS2 Directive into applicable national law is 17 October, 2024. This is a crucial deadline for businesses, which will immediately be asked to comply with each Member State’s implementation. NIS2’s Article 28 focuses on domain registration data, a specific area of expertise for members of the i2Coalition DNS Issues Working Group.

As Member States rush toward their deadlines, collaboration with industry experts may help them to work toward uniform implementation of NIS2 on Article 28 in particular. This document serves as a place to start that conversation. It represents our ideas on how implementation should move forward.

Starting in November 2023, i2Coalition and our members will begin reaching out to EU Member States, using this document to start conversations that offer up our perspectives and shared expertise. In the meantime, we welcome thoughts and ideas from the entire Internet community on the ideas we have set down in the document you’ll find below.
