Working Groups & Initiatives

Issues: Working Groups & Initiatives

The i2Coalition supports those who build the nuts and bolts of the Internet. We believe the continued growth of the Internet is vital for growing an environment of innovation and seek to engage in ways to foster the success of the Internet and Internet infrastructure industry.

As a member-driven organization, the i2Coalition’s Working Groups allow members to drive the activities of the i2Coalition in specific areas. All of our members are invited to join specific interest sections within the i2Coalition, to help us lead on issues that are important to members and to the Internet infrastructure industry.

We start with the gold standard of tech policy briefings

As the anchor of our Working Groups, the i2Coalition’s monthly Tech Policy Briefing is the premier place for Internet infrastructure industry leaders to connect with up-to-the-minute legislative developments that impact their businesses. The challenges discussed during the Tech Policy Briefings are then addressed as necessary through our action-focused Working Groups.

Member Working Groups include:

  • Cybersecurity and Privacy Working Group
Members of the Cybersecurity and Privacy Working Group take action to protect not only their own business interests but those of the whole industry, the people who rely upon it, and the future development of the Internet itself.
  • Technology and Trade Working Group
The Technology and Trade Working Group handles the telecommunications and content issues that affect the Internet infrastructure industry as well as digital trade—such as intermediary liability, content-level online harms, net neutrality, and international digital trade policy.
  • DNS Issues Working Group
(Formerly the ICANN Working Group) The DNS Issues Working Group offers members important information in the realm of Internet governance regarding issues ranging from interoperability to digital surveillance. The DNS Issues Working Group is your interface with Internet governance bodies such as ICANN. Our success means maintaining an inclusive, open, secure and trustworthy Internet.

We also organize two groups focused on specific verticals in the industry:

  • The VPN Trust Initiative (VTI)
The VPN Trust Initiative (VTI) is a consortium of leading VPN providers focused on improving digital safety for consumers by building understanding, strengthening trust, and mitigating risk for VPN users.
  • The Ethical Web Data Collection Initiative (EWDCI)
The EWDCI is a consortium of web data collectors focused on strengthening public trust, promoting ethical guidelines, and helping businesses make informed data collection choices.

The i2Coalition’s work is supported by a membership compromised of leaders in the Internet infrastructure community. i2Coalition members receive detailed, monthly policy reports, benefits from other members, access to special events, and more.
