Working Groups & Initiatives: Industry Influence

 

The i2Coalition Tech Policy Briefing is responsible for determining the specific responses for the i2Coalition regarding global policy issues that are important to the Internet’s infrastructure. Recent achievements have centered around net neutrality and surveillance reform, which were achieved through engagement with the FCC.

i2Coalition’s Policy Director provides monthly policy briefings for members on the state of new policies, their potential impact, and how they can get their voices heard by the relevant policymakers.

The i2Coalition engages in policy matters and meets regularly to discuss issues relevant to the Internet Industry. Working Group members take an active role in reviewing policy and writing briefs on behalf of i2Coalition that support the industry’s goals.

The i2Coalition’s DNS Issues Working Group decides the i2Coalition’s position on Internet governance issues, as well as coordinating the i2Coalition’s engagement with the multistakeholder communities that manage the root and other global functions of the Internet.

Recent DNS Issues Working Group projects include:

  • Public comments on numerous ICANN-related issues to advance our voice within the multi-stakeholder model, including on ICANN Budgets and Five Year Plans.
  • Participation in both the ISPCP and BC ICANN constituencies of ICANN, where we actively participate on behalf of our non-contracted members.
  • Cooperating with similarly aligned organizations on educational initiatives.

The Cybersecurity and Privacy Working Group engages in policy matters and industry issues in accordance with the i2Coalition’s core focuses and meets regularly to discuss pressing concerns that fall within our scope.

Group members take an active role in reviewing policy and writing briefs on behalf of the i2Coalition to support the industry’s goals. 

Recent Cybersecurity and Privacy Working Group projects include:

  • Public comments on numerous cybersecurity and privacy related issues to advance our voice.
  • Cooperating with similarly aligned organizations on educational initiatives.

The Technology and Trade Working Group engages in policy matters and industry issues in accordance with the i2Coalition’s core focuses and meets regularly to discuss pressing concerns that fall within our scope. Group members take an active role in reviewing policy and writing briefs on behalf of the i2Coalition to support the industry’s goals.

Recent Technology and Trade Working Group projects include:

  • Public comments on numerous technology and trade related issues to advance our voice.
  • Open Internet NPRM response to the FCC.
  • Cooperating with similarly aligned organizations on educational initiatives.

The i2Coalition’s work is supported by a membership comprised of leaders in the Internet infrastructure community. i2Coalition members receive detailed, monthly policy reports, benefits from other members, access to special events, and more.
