Announcing Our First Executive Director And A New Chairman of the Board
The Internet Infrastructure Coalition (i2Coalition) has selected Co-Founder Christian Dawson to be its first full-time Executive Director. Dawson previously served as the i2Coalition Chairman of the Board but steps down from this position to assume his new role. David Snead, Co-Founder and Chair of the public policy working group, will replace Dawson as Chairman of the Board.
“It is rare that an organization has the opportunity to bring on board an individual as uniquely talented as Christian,” said Snead. “Under his leadership, our members can expect a stable and influential association that builds on the incredible successes we’ve had over the past four years. I’ve had the privilege to work alongside Christian from the start and feel honored to continue to participate in the leadership of the i2Coalition as Chairman of the Board.”
Prior to taking this role, Dawson served as the Chief Operating Officer of ServInt, a Virginia-based hosting company, for the past 16 years. Since founding the i2Coalition, Dawson has dedicated his time to making the Internet a better, safer place for businesses that make up the Cloud. Snead has served the legal needs of the Internet infrastructure industry for more than 20 years and currently acts as the General Counsel for cPanel, where he is responsible for cPanel’s global legal operations.
In 2011, Dawson and Snead rallied countless Internet infrastructure companies to join together to prevent passage of SOPA and PIPA, two pieces of proposed legislation that would have caused irreparable harm to the Cloud and its innovators. After mobilizing to ensure the Internet’s free flow of information and commerce, the group realized the on-going need for an industry voice and formed the i2Coalition in 2012.
“What we have been able to accomplish since forming the i2Coalition has been truly inspiring,” said Dawson. “In assuming an executive leadership position, I believe I can ensure that the i2Coalition takes its influence and effectiveness to the next level.”
