CodeGuard Joins i2Coalition
The following post is from CodeGuard about becoming a member of the i2Coalition.
CodeGuard provides peace of mind to website owners and brand protection for hosting providers around the world. We do this by securely and reliably backing up websites, and then restoring them when issues arise. Our customers trust us for website backup and to safeguard their data. To ensure that we can continue to deliver upon our commitments, we have joined the i2Coalition, so that we can represent our customers’ interests in shaping internet-related legislation.
Our decision to join the i2Coalition was driven by the strength of the members, efficacy demonstrated thus far, and organizational structure. With 64 member companies representing leading web hosting and data center providers, registries and registrars, software and service delivery, and cloud computing services, there is a strong chance of successfully leveraging the scale of the member companies to effect change. And it has already been demonstrated that the i2Coalition is impacting policy by driving awareness and providing a megaphone for those who truly understand the Internet at the “nuts and bolts” level. It is my belief that the organizational structure of the i2Coalition, consensus-driven leadership that leverages varied working groups composed of experts on Internet governance and policy, is a major factor in achieving a unified industry voice.
The need for a unified voice and advocacy on behalf of the Internet infrastructure industry has never been as great as it is now, as the ubiquity and public reliance upon the Internet make it a technology that impacts most of our daily lives. Without an entity to help educate and inform public leaders, the risk of abuse of this fundamental infrastructure will remain high. We are proud to be a member of the i2Coalition, and to allow our customers’ voices and needs to be heard.
