i2Coalition Delivers Letter To House Leadership Advocating Section 702 Reform
The Internet Infrastructure Coalition (i2Coalition) has delivered a letter to leadership of the United States House Committee on the Judiciary regarding reform of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act Amendments Act (“FAA”). The letter was sent in advance of hearings in the Judiciary on the schedule for this week.
On December 31st, 2017, FAA Section 702 is scheduled to sunset. i2Coalition sent the letter in order to engage Judiciary leadership during the Section 702 reauthorization debate, to discuss the positive economic benefits of additional reforms to enhance public confidence, transparency, and privacy.
“Reform of Section 702 is necessary to restore confidence in internet companies, preserve the vitality of the free and open internet, and preserve the U.S. innovation economy,” said i2Coalition Executive Director Christian Dawson. “We look forward to engaging with Congress on this important issue.”
