i2Coalition Member Spotlight: Hosting.cl
Since its inception in 1999, Hosting.cl has provided web hosting services to the Chilean and Peruvian markets—from traditional hosting to eCommerce, VPS, and software-defined cloud services. We caught up with Cristian Casamayor, founder and CEO of Hosting.cl, to discuss the specifics of those markets, as well as Hosting.cl’s approach to AI and industry collaboration.
i2Coalition: Can you give us the elevator pitch for Hosting.cl?
CC: Hosting.cl is Chile’s most recognized hosting brand for support and reliability. With over 20 years in the market, we’re known for the best customer service and we’re the only provider offering real 24/7 phone support. We operate our own datacenter in Santiago, and also serve Peru via hosting.pe. We stand out for security, transparency, and a firm anti-abuse posture, which are aligned with the Secure Hosting Alliance’s principles. In short: local, secure hosting with real human support—always.
i2Coalition: What factors make the South American hosting market unique?
CC: Customers in South America don’t just want “space and price”—they want technology partners who can navigate currency volatility, diverse regulatory contexts, and heterogeneous connectivity across countries. That’s why we prioritize quality over price: stable services with local presence and Spanish-language support that goes beyond purely technical answers, even when it means helping outside the strict scope of the plan.
Our customers value reliability and proximity, so we offer a Santiago-based datacenter and teams who understand the local context.
We are also serious about security and anti-abuse in dealing with the sorts of attacks our particular market faces: this means fast responses to phishing/malware and proactive prevention.
The bottom line is that in South America, trust is the advantage—we act as a technology ally, not just a vendor.
i2Coalition: What impact do you think recent geopolitical events have had on your more recent growth?
CC: Chile and Peru are particular cases: despite political shifts, both countries recognize that the economy often runs on relatively stable, parallel tracks. In the broader global geopolitical context, many Latin American businesses seek refuge in local providers they perceive as more reliable.
Our local footprint in Santiago (and service for Peru via hosting.pe) delivers low latency, Spanish-language support, and immediate response. In times of uncertainty, organizations prioritize continuity and 24/7 human support—and that’s where Hosting.cl becomes a true technology partner.
i2Coalition: How have the recent developments in AI capabilities impacted what you build and how you work?
CC: AI helps us in three main areas. First, we use it in abuse detection and response: AI is very helpful in pattern recognition for phishing/malware and faster triage.
Second, operations and reliability: AI is useful for anomaly detection for uptime and capacity planning.
Then there is the customer experience: AI helps us help our customers through better self-service and knowledge retrieval—while keeping humans in the loop for critical decisions.
Overall our result has been stronger security, higher operational efficiency, and better support.
i2Coalition: Why did your team find it important to join i2Coalition?
CC: In seeking the best for our customers, we want to align with global best practices, contribute to industry standards for trust and security, and collaborate with peers facing similar challenges. i2Coalition’s community helps us anticipate policy and security trends, reinforcing an open and trustworthy Internet and validating our focus on quality over price.
i2Coalition: Which i2Coalition initiatives connect most deeply with your team’s values?
CC: We firmly align with the Secure Hosting Alliance on trust, transparency, and abuse prevention. anti-abuse collaboration: shared knowledge and coordinated response to emerging threats are longstanding priorities for us.
We are also ready to collaborate with any group initiatives that work towards balanced, practical regulation for hosting providers.Â
i2Coalition: Where does government policy interface with your work on a daily basis?
CC: Primarily in data protection, responses to valid legal requests, security-incident handling, and the definition of Terms & Conditions/AUP [Acceptable Use Policy]. We also work closely with Chile’s Cybercrime Brigade, especially on the detection and takedown of phishing and malicious content, and the prevention of online fraud and scams. Our approach is to comply with applicable law, act transparently, protect users, and continuously strengthen our practices in line with standards promoted by i2Coalition and the Secure Hosting Alliance.
