i2Coalition Praises Open Internet Order Decision
Today, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit upheld the Federal Communications Commission’s Open Internet Order in all respects, stating that the agency exercised its proper authority when it reclassified broadband internet access as a telecom service under Title II of the Communications Act.
The following statement may be attributed to: i2Coalition Executive Director Christian Dawson:
“When the Open Internet order arrived, we praised Chairman Wheeler for his leadership in preserving a free and open Internet. i2Coalition’s public comment filing on the FCC’s Open Internet Order articulated a framework that would continue to promote Internet competitiveness and openness. Today we thank the Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit for affirming the validity of the Open Internet Order, against substantive and procedural attacks. We are pleased that the Internet will remain a open platform for innovation, competition and the potential for continued economic growth.”
