Join i2Coalition for a Celebration of Internet Freedom on 1/15
A year ago this month the Internet community and supporters banded together to stop the legislative assault on the Internet by preventing the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIPA) from becoming law. Next week, we invite you to join us to commemorate the anniversary of this victory in a Celebration of Internet Freedom on January 15 at the Knight Studio at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. The i2Coalition is excited to be a co-sponsor of this event, which is put together by CEA.
The event will feature the premiere of the documentary Silicon Prairie: America’s New Internet Economy that spotlights the journey of Internet entrepreneurs throughout the Midwest to show how Internet freedom is boosting the economy by creating jobs and spurring innovation throughout the country. The documentary is produced by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, who will be in attendance. The pre-screening and cocktail reception will be held at 4:30-5:00 p.m. followed by the film screening and panel discussion from 5:00-6:00 p.m.
The night will conclude with a celebratory reception on Internet Freedom at The Source, by Wolfgang Puck, next to the Newseum from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Please RSVP to [email protected]. The i2Coalition is proud to be a co-sponsor of this important event, along with many others who value the critical role that the Internet plays in our community, economy, and lives as a whole. We hope you can join us for this momentous celebration.
