Secure Hosting Alliance Anti-Abuse Showcase: On-Demand Video
The Secure Hosting Alliance (SHA) just hosted its very first event: an online Anti-Abuse Showcase. It was wonderful to see so many in the web hosting community tuning in to join us. With so much material to cover in just two short hours, we’re making a recording of the webinar available on demand. This will give you an idea of where the SHA is directing its initial efforts, as well as the companies who are involved in making the world of web hosting a better place.
If you want to see a more trustworthy and reliable hosting industry, you’ve come to the right place: we invite you to join the Secure Hosting Alliance and help us establish industry standards, improve the efficiency of your company’s anti-abuse efforts, and benefit from the trusted environment we are creating.
Secure Hosting Alliance Goals
The SHA seeks to establish new industry standards to serve as a mark of quality that separates established and respected providers from the fly-by-night operators. Through their participation, responsible actors in the web hosting industry can strengthen this sector and prevent detrimental legislation by those who don’t understand what web hosters actually do. Our goals include:
- Develop and promote a cooperative framework for fraud prevention, abuse response, law enforcement coordination, domain industry collaboration, and support to enhance trust and safety in the web hosting industry.
- Surface common industry standards for web hosting and cloud service providers around privacy, security, transparency, and ethical advertising practices.
- Develop a unified language and taxonomy for the web hosting portion of the cloud industry, setting clear definitions and fostering better communication.
- Establish principles for combating monopolistic behavior and promoting open standards.
- Contribute to legislative and regulatory discussions, advocating for data protection and cybersecurity measures tailored to web hosting and cloud providers.
- Engage in community-building activities, including virtual and in-person meetups at industry conferences, to facilitate collaboration and networking opportunities.
If you are interested in joining the SHA, your company must first be a member of the i2Coalition or at least have begun the inquiry process. You can find out more about the benefits of i2Coalition membership here.
