Attend The i2Coalition 2017 Internet Leadership Awards, May 3rd
The i2Coalition will be holding its fifth annual Internet Leadership Awards ceremony on May 3rd, 2017, sponsored by i2Coalition member Afilias. Each year, the i2Coalition presents Champion of Internet Freedom Awards to legislators and community members who promote a free and open Internet, and who work towards protecting innovation in the Internet’s infrastructure.
The i2Coalition has announced that the recipients of its 2017 Champion of Internet Freedom Awards will be Representative Robert Goodlatte (R-VA) and Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT). Â The i2Coalition will be presenting a member of its own community with its annual Internet Community Leadership Award. Elliot Noss, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tucows, will be receiving this prestigious award. Noss will provide keynote remarks to close the ceremony.
“We are honoring a group of individuals who, collectively, have done a great deal to protect and promote the Internet. I am excited to honor Rep. Goodlatte, Sen. Leahy, and the Internet infrastructure community’s own Elliot Noss,” said i2Coalition Executive Director Christian Dawson. “Each understands the positive impact innovative technology can have on the world. For decades they have fought for an Internet that maximizes that positive impact. i2Coalition is very lucky for the opportunity to honor, and learn from, these impressive individuals.”
The Internet Leadership Awards ceremony will be held at 2226 Rayburn Congressional House Office Building (RHOB), Washington, DC 20515, May 3rd, 2017 at 6 PM EST to 7 PM EST. This is a widely attended event designed to comply with the House and Senate ethics rules. Parties interested in attending the ceremony, which is free and open to the public, can sign up below.
